MARGREET SWEERTS is a performance director, living in Maastricht and working in Amsterdam







Margreet Sweerts is a theatre director by education, graduated at the Toneelacademie Maastricht (1987) and Dasarts (2008)
before directing her own pieces in Holland and Belgium she assisted several Dutch theatre directors (1988-1993). 

With SERA, a company she co-founded in Maastricht Margreet made site-specific theatre and performances. (1991- 2006)

From 2005 -2008 she studied at Dasarts, international master course for theatre and dance research in Amsterdam, where she met fashion designers Pascale Gatzen and Saskia van Drimmelen. 

Saskia invited her amongst other designers, artists and masters to collaborate in Painted Series from 2007 on.

With and apart from Painted Series she participated in several projects on the edge of fashion and social design, architecture and performance, one of them being  the booksprint The Fashion Condition 


Other longlasting collaborations are:
Research and performance projects with singer Tina Fisher: Still life (about the beauty of Alzheimer, 2006), Tochter (about integrating motherhood in creative practices, 2011, 2012, 2015), Mandala, ein sangspiel ( 2017), Festival of Sadness (from 2018 on) and Mother Earth (about the mother archetype, 2019)

With visual artist Emmeline de Mooij, Margreet collaborated in Emmeline’s project Art in therapy (2018) and together they initiated the Feminist Needlework Party  (2018 on)

As a Tango (Argentino) dancer/teacher from 1988- 2008 at the Academia de Tango in Amsterdam and Tango Maastricht in Maastricht, Margreet gave workshops and performances in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Argentinia.

She raised two children:  Raúl (1995) and Eva (1998)
